Two weeks in Tucson, AZ...Part 1

We are finally through Texas...

We're so happy to have made it into a new state!!!  Can you tell????

Looks like others had the same idea...we're all heading west to Arizona via I-10 :)
I wonder if they are headed to Quartzsite??

We called Agave Gulch Fam Camp on Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson, AZ home
January 13th-27th...

We had to stay in the overflow area the first night.  We moved to our new campsite the next morning.
This is a nice fam camp with beautiful mountain views and gorgeous sunrises and sunsets!

Since we were staying in Tucson for 2 weeks, we were able to spend some time just hanging out at the fam camp.  We worked on our studies, got to explore the base, watched playoff football (cheering on Tim Tebow) and did activities and trip planning.  We also had a special treat when our friends the Grays, from El Paso, were in Tucson for a volleyball tournament.  We got to sneak in another visit with them and cheer on Lindsay's team!

So what did we do with our few days of hanging out????
We played lots of volleyball games...
We made a trip to the library...for the first time in 4 months.  Can you tell we MISSED it?????  The kids were carrying out books, too!  We normally go at least once a week.

BBQing...

Blogging....
(Yes, I'm using both computers!)
A rousing game of Horseopoly...

School time...
Um...yeah.  This trip has been full of adventures and lots of firsts...
This is the first time I've ever colored my own hair!!!  And I was so scared I carried the box around for 2 months building up my courage!
But then I had an epiphany...  I had to courage to sell my home, pack up my family, and travel across the USA... coloring my hair should really be no big deal.
I did it... and it turned out great!  I was so proud of myself :)
Worked on our nature study notebooks
(We love the Charlotte Mason philosophy for home education!)

Making cactus pies rather than mud pies :)
Prickly Pear Pie
It was so nice settling in for a few days before we started our sightseeing.  So, what activities made our *must see* list??  Read Part 2 to find out  :)

  1. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the pic of you blogging using both laptops. My hubby thought that I was the only one that did that - I was quick to show him your picture! LOL! :)

    1. Hee hee hee.... Jon couldn't believe it when he came back from playing volleyball with the kids and found me like that. I told him how productive I had been while he and the kids were out :) It's pretty rare that I get the use of both at the same time!
